Earlier this year I set some goals for myself. The first was getting back into my studio. The second was actually doing something with my large volume of work. I decided to open an Etsy art shop! I also decided to take things to my local arts council which has a gallery/shop. I wanted to get my work out there to make people happy and to get rid of it!
So I planned to set low/affordable prices and offer lots of work in lots of different genres and mediums. I like to do art about haunted houses, abandoned houses, mountains, landscapes, old toys, nature and butterflies- which is what my shop is named after! This last few weeks I finally got it done!

It took awhile to get all the legal things taken care of to do business. Its a little different from E-Bay, which I have run a shop on for years. There were bank problems, tax problems, etc. I finally got them all figured out and then started the really hard work of listing.
I photographed my work in natural light with an L-shaped ruler to show the actual size, figured postage, got tons of postage supplies, weighed everything and started!
The easiest thing was to make a copy of a listing that had the same size, medium, and weight and change that for the new art. This sped up the process immensley! Yay!
Then I needed to advertise so I posted the art I was selling on instagram. I’m still trying to decide if I want to do Facebook… (I HATE Facebook- its really overwhelming for introverted me).
I haven’t sold anything yet and that is completely fine. I just wanted to have a shop! I wanted to put it out there! It feels sooo good! And- my work looks so beautiful! Hooray!
Hopefully I will make some people happy and get rid of some pieces- there is nothing more inspiring for creating more art!
