Art Mood

-Beautiful studio light, beautiful windows

-Easel with my canvas by the windows, happily painting away

-Beauty everywhere, infused in every part of my life

-Gorgeous colors of art supplies- colored pencils, watercolors, oils, gouache, pastels

– My favorite colors: colors of the ocean

-Victorian learning / mood: supplies like W&N Westminster box, Frazier-Price brass palette, plein air equipment, French easels, antique studio set-up, etc.

-Painting butterflies

-Sketching in my Moleskines

-Working with pastels

I’ve found I can “say” things with pastels that I couldn’t say with other mediums.

-Going to art supply stores and shopping, looking, touching, holding colors, letting color light up my life

-Going to the mountains to sketch and do art!

-Being in God’s creation and nature and being creative

-Making plans for fun and drawing them

-Imagining things and drawing them

-Writing books and illustrating them

-Drawing my children

-Drawing in my journals- my new things and favorites

-Drawing Ginger & Pickles plans and things

-Drawing in the morning before work

-Painting while traveling

-Going to museums to experience the works of other artists and to be inspired

Monet
Renoir
Cassat
John Frank of Frankoma Pottery

-Taking the best inspiration from nature

All of these things make my art heart sing with joy. I hope you can find things that fill your heart too.

Art love from Kansas Street,

-Jaime
